Job Description – IT Administrator
As an IT Administrator you will be required to provide an effective IT supports service to the college. You will be upgrading and installing hardware and software, performing troubleshooting to resolve IT issues, and maintaining our networks and servers. You will also be expected to advice on technology and how it can help boost the performance of the college.
To ensure success as an IT administrator, you should possess extensive experience in IT administration and the ability to optimise the performance of our IT infrastructure.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Providing proactive and responsive IT support efficiently
- Monitoring and maintaining college websites, networks and servers
- Receiving, sorting and prioritising the IT services including; overseeing hardware and software installation, ordering and managing equipment’s and managing troubleshooting
- Implementing security protocols and procedures to prevent potential threats
- Creating user accounts and performing access control
- Performing diagnostic tests and debugging procedures to optimise computer systems
- Documenting processes, as well as backing up and archiving data
- Developing data retrieval and recovery procedures
- Regular maintenance and management of IT equipment and systems
- Offer first line support by liaising with colleagues and students to resolve any technical issues that arise (including Moodle / candidate must have experience on Moodle)
- To have regard for the duty of care of information (with particular reference to the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act) gained during the course of employment that relates to students, employees, public and the contractors
- To manage courses and user accounts on Moodle/E-learning
- To act as the main point of contact for internal staff related to IT and to communicate across all levels of the business including communicating with external/third parties
- To attend meetings with internal/external bodies
- To assist registry department as and when required
- To undertake any reasonable tasks commensurate with the title and salary of the post held.

IT Administrator Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or similar.
- Applicable professional qualification, such as Microsoft, Oracle, or Cisco certification.
- At least one year experience in a similar role.
- Extensive experience with IT systems, networks, and related technologies.
- Solid knowledge of best practises in IT administration and system security.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
