Tuition Fee Loan:
This covers the cost of your tuition fee and is paid directly to the College. The loan has to be paid back, plus any interest, to Student Loans Company (SLC) but not until you have finished, or left, your course and your income is over the repayment threshold of £25,000. While earning less than the threshold no repayments are made. Full details can be found on the SLC website.
Maintenance Loan
(for full-time UK students only): This is paid directly to you to help towards your day-to-day living costs, such as rent or food. Your repayments of this loan to the SLC also start once you you have finished, or left, your course and your income is over the repayment threshold of £25,000. Extra student funding may be available, for example if you have a disability, including a long-term health condition, mental-health condition or specific learning difficulty, or if you have children
Maintenance Grant
(for full-time UK students only): Additional help for living costs; this does not need to be paid back. However, from August 2016 there will be no Maintenance Grant for new students.
